On Thursday, June 11, Eurolamp WRT starts to fight at Rally Italia Sardegna, sixth round of World Rally Championship. It will be fourth Italian WRC race for Valery Gorban.
During three previous visits to Sardegna Ukrainian driver had opportunity to taste the sweets of success and the heartsick consciousness of failure. In 2012, Gorban gave up second place of PWRC championship in tough fight with Marcos Ligato and took third step of the podium. In 2013 Valery dropped out of the race because of the radiator failure.
What has present race in store for the crew of Eurolamp WRT? Stages of Rally Italia Sardegna didn’t change — they are still dangerous and crafty. Opponents didn’t lose their power – there are four different winners in five previous rounds of current world championship and all of them are ready to fight in Italy. Moreover, with the exception of Pontus Tideman, all of top-8 crews of current WRC2 table, among which there is also the duo of Valery Gogban and Vladimir Korsia, prepare for battle at Rally Italia Sardegna 2015. So the race promises not to be easy.
Valery Gorban, Eurolamp WRT driver: «Level of our preparation is well enough to fight for high results. We have a few hundred kilometers of Portuguese trainings, and it is not our only asset. We have formidable Rally de Portugal under our belt, which we overcame a few weeks ago. But as you know characteristics of stages of Rally Italia Sardegna are like Portugese ones. Besides, we have arrived to Italy beforehand to have opportunity for additional training in local conditions. So we are ready for combat. What will be the outcome of that battle? We prefer not to take a long shot. But what we do know – we have no plan to be a sitting duck for our rivals!»
Rally Italia Sardegna will last four days. On Thursday, June 11, crews will overcome 2,5-kilometers superspecial stage for warm-up. Friday distance will consist of 9 SS, a total length of 133.5 kilometers. Saturday will be the longest day of the race – another 9SS await for the crews, but their total length is almost two times longer than length of Friday stage and it is 212.8 kilometers. Rally Italia Sardegna will end on Sunday, June 14, with 45.8 kilometers of three special stages.
